Hello, despite this forum seem with little activity I would like to contribute.
FAILURES
I have the original F1 Manager Pro and failures allways seem to happen on Gear, Electronics, Engine and Radiator.
I discovered that the problem can be anywhere and the game allways show one of these failures: Gear, Electronics, Engine and Radiator
So to have reliability you must have all parts as best quality as possible, not only these four. Because -in the game- a 1 star nose can show an electronic failure
RELIABILITY:
The most important aspect in the game is to have a reliable car. No matter of the championship result, it seem sponsors and suppliers give a huge importance in this aspects. To support you, they want your team to finish races!
It seem that when you hit the 80% reliability record, all your sponsors and suppliers are satisfied, despite of the championship results.
If you don't achieve this 80% record, your finances will begin to drop continuously throughout the seasons.
How do we achieve realiability?
well, the faster and easier solution is to hire 4/5 stars engineers and mechanics, and 4/5 stars Race Director. Your cars will be very reliable and will arrive to the 80% goal.
However... what happens when you are a poor team??
WARNING!!
4 stars engineers demand that you enter at least one car into the point area
It happened to me once that my team became so unhappy that I had no way to recover from this situation, I had to restart from year zero.
MOTIVATION/PRESSURE
Every time you fulfill engineer's expectations, they get happy. Every time you excel engineer's expectations, they get even happier and reduce pressure.
In order to have a healthy team, you need to have
- happiness almost all green (not all)
- pressure green but not too green.
just keep them on the green area.
If you hire an engineer that is too good for your team, you will destroy motivation fast. And you will not be able to solve the situation EVER... NEVER EVER... once your team get on the red area you have no solution, your reliability will be destroyed and so your finances.
ENGINEERS DEMAND'S
(this is more or less what I have learned through experience)
0 stars - demand nothing, everything is good and happy
1 stars - demand one car to finish the race
2 stars - demand two cars to finish the race wherever place.
3 stars - demand two cars finish, one in the middle or one in the point area.
4 stars - demand one car in the point and one in the middle.
5 stars - two cars getting points allways. or one winning.
So if you are a
Poor Team - 2 Stars (you will get them happier every time one car finish better than 16th)
Medium Team - 3 Stars
High Team - 4 stars
In a season you can combine 2/3 or 3/4 or 4/5 in order to control motivation wherever you want it to go.
I mean you can start the season with a 2 stars engineer, and dismiss him later, and hire a 3 stars engineer
----------
WARNING: YOU MUST NOT USE 4 STARS ENGINEERS IN BAD TEAMS!!!
SOLUTION - RELIABILITY FOR POOR TEAM
* hire a 2 star Chief mechanic
* at the begginning don't forget to re-build all parts to make them 3 stars at least
* Buy a second assembly hall (and don't forget to hire mechanics too)
* every race load all internal parts and use them new in the race. leave the Test car at home, take only internal parts to the race.
* Setup: spread your gear relation wide open
* Setup: set the engine on minimal consumption (the middle mix fuel/air)
* put drivers in the less agressiveness all races, even "finish race" order.
yes the season will be boring... but...
this way you can finish 80% of races and your engineers and mechanics will be happy. next year (or at the end of the year) you can hire better Engineer, and buy a third assembly hall.
2ยบ season you will have good sponsors and little better engine.
With 2 Assembly Halls and a 3 star engineers you can push your car further (more driver agressivness and shorter gear relation)
If you have 4 star engineer an 3 assembly halls, you can blow away your engine and gearbox with TNT and they will keep working ;D
STORY
I didn't take Lola team to the world championship yet, but I am on my way. I'm on the third year with 4 star engineers, 3 assembly halls, Peugeot Engine, and a very much developed chassis.
enjoy!
